Expertise

Programme design philosophy

As a safeguarding and child protection specialist, Ann Marie’s training is always in formed by the latest research, statistics and guidance. She provokes and challenges participants to reflect on their own understanding of the subject.

She tailors all sessions to meet the needs of the individual school and seeks feedback via regular evaluation to ensure that they do.

She includes a range of learning activities and often uses real footage to facilitate them, but always has learning agreements with participants that they may leave the room at any time if they find it distressing.

Her training is accredited by the NSPCC and she is an Accredited Secretary of State Safer Recruitment Trainer. She belongs to various professional bodies including BASW (British Association of Social Workers), BACSPAN and HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council) and uses the professional standards in social work to shape the training.

Despite the very serious and sad nature of the subject matter, Ann Marie prides herself on being able to use humour to ensure delegates can reflect on themselves and allows and consider other options.

She has worked with the Senior Team to ensure practice is excellent. We were given a 1 in our Ofsted in July 2017.

Donhead Preparatory School, Designated Safeguarding Lead

Ann Marie is always very quick to respond to any queries or calls for help. She was the first person I called when given notice of our recent ‘Material Changes’ inspection,’ and gave extremely useful and practical advice beforehand. The role of the DSL in schools has grown steadily in recent times and can be a quagmire of Safeguarding and CP procedures, policies and practice. Over the last few years, Ann Marie has been an invaluable source of expert information, guidance and support on numerous occasions.
